Barr. (Hon.) Prince Ankot Cobham, a formidable force and a prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Calabar Municipality, Cross River State has formally resigned from his position as the party’s State Caretaker Committee Member, citing growing uncertainties and internal challenges within the organization.
In a letter dated January 9, 2026, addressed to the State Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP Cross River State Chapter, Hon. Ankot Cobham announced his decision to sign out. The letter, titled “Official Sign Out of My Position as a Member of the Cross River State Caretaker Committee,” references the above subject and explains his rationale.
“Mr. Chairman, having witnessed the uncertainties in our once beloved party, and the air now becoming bittersweet every day blended with the hue and cry of majority of my political mentors, young and youthful political friends, family members and partners, please accept this letter as a formal notification of my resignation as a member of the PDP Caretaker Committee, Cross River State Chapter,” Ankot wrote.
He specified that his final day of appointment would be five working days from the date of the letter, effectively concluding his tenure after serving for the past three months and on extension
Hon. Ankot expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute at a higher level within the party. “I wish to use this medium to thank Cross River State PDP members and you for this opportunity that was given to me to serve at the higher level of the party in the State over the past 3 months. I have truly valued my time here and appreciate the support and political friendship I’ve received from you and my colleagues across the state,” he stated.
Closing on a positive note, Hon. Ankot wished the chairman and the party success moving forward: “I wish you and the Party all the best for the future.”
Hon. Ankot was a former Councillor and Chief Whip of Calabar Municipal Council (2010-2013), former two-term Chapter Secretary of PDP Calabar Municipal Chapter (2016-2024), a formidable 2023 Aspirant for the position of HOA, Calabar Municipal State Constituency and former Member, PDP Caretaker Committee, Cross River State Chapter.
